I can’t lie. It’s easy to forget, with any job, how important it is to be good. Monotonous, repetitive tasks, combined with an inability to not always make everyone perfectly happy gets to me from time-to-time. With so many chiefs, per se, at every wedding, we’re never going to have a perfect batting average.
Don’t get me wrong, JPG’s couples appreciate what we do, but hearing from couples years later, and knowing we’ve made a difference which stuck with them, is the ultimate reward. It’s something I tell my couples they’ll appreciate down the line when we first talk. And honestly, I can’t possibly know that, for every couple. But Kelli and Nick, here, aren’t the first to tell us years later it’s made a difference. So, I keep telling every couple we meet, the real photos of you and your family is what you want to cherish and celebrate, and appreciate, years later. It’s reassuring knowing I’m telling the truth.
Kelli and Nick were married almost four years ago now, and one simple moment brought great joy to them. And sharing with Rebecca and I brought great joy to us.
I’ll let you read about it in Kelli’s own words:
Just wanted to drop a note to tell you that your photography captures moments that last a lifetime, not just a moment in time. I’m sending you this message now b/c my Papa (my grandfather) passed away on Christmas day after a 6mo battle w/ pancreatic cancer. He was my hero… and the photos I have from our wedding show some wonderful moments that I was fortunate to share with him on that special day. My favorites are the 2 photos, 1 taken right after the other, of him leaning in to give me a kiss. We just happened to run into him on the way back to our room and you caught that moment. Everyone has commented on that photo…how it captures how much he and I loved each other and how much I adored him. That photo was buried with him 3 weeks ago. I hope you don’t think that is weird. Our wedding photos are some of the best I have of him in a long time. He aged quite a bit after our wedding, and 2011 was a rough year for him.
Congrats on all the awards and acknowledgement JPG has received; you really deserve it. Thanks again, for capturing memories that will stay with me forever.

November 26th is a Good Day to Get Married – Cara and Ray’s Bear Creek Resort Wedding
January 23rd, 2012 by Joe
If I could pick one word to describe Cara and Ray it would be FUN. They’re huge Penn State fans so we did their engagement shoot at PSU and had a great time with them while they tossed a football around — they both have great senses of humor and are super laid back. Their wedding took place in late November at Bear Creek Resort. It was a great sunny day and we arranged for a really sweet first look and some great outdoor portraits. An employee of the resort drove us in a van to a really cool old barn that we THOUGHT was part of the property…however, after 30 minutes of picture-taking we received news via walkie-talkie that photos were NOT supposed to be taken in the barn because it’s not part of the resort property. But we got some great “oops” shots anyway, being the sneaky JPG ninjas that we are.
The ceremony was short and sweet; the reception was crazy and fun-filled. There was an awesome photobooth set up so guests were strutting around in funky costumes all evening and hamming it up for the photo booth. There was tons of crazy dancing, air guitar playing and imaginary jump-roping — it takes some talented people to pull off that dance move. The evening culminated with an epic cake smash…well, better than cake, actually — a PIE smash, which was so cool. There was an entire pie table with everything from cherry to pecan.
All in all it was a fabulous night, made even more fabulous by the fact that my wife Rebecca and I were celebrating our anniversary that night as well! The dancing was contagious, and the two of us put on our dancing shoes for a bit with the crowd. It was great to be able to work/celebrate with so many awesome people who made our job so easy and our night one to remember.

Cara & Ray’s favorite memories from their day:
“All we can say is we keep on hearing from friends and family what an amazing PARTY it was, it got fairly roudy at times which we loved. We actually got “officially” married in August of 2011 and then had the reception/ceremony to renew our vows on November 26th 2011. Leading up to Novemeber all our friends & family kept giving us a hard time about having “2 weddings”…now people keep asking us to have a 3rd. Haha. Guess it was a good time
JPG Wedding Photography is Featured on Vera Wang Blog!
January 23rd, 2012 by Joe
Vera Wang is a name of glamor and impeccable style, and while JPG, at times, can appear more offbeat, we make every dress, down to smallest details, look fabulous. That’s why this Philadelphia Wedding Photographer is thrilled that some of his classic and contemporary wedding photography was recently featured on ‘Vera Unveiled‘, the blog of Vera Wang that features bridal news and real weddings of brides who wear “Wang” at their wedding.
One of our brides, Ashley, wore a beautiful Vera Wang dress for her June wedding to Lou. Ashley prepared for her day at the Omni in Philadelphia and the ceremony and reception took place at Cescaphe. The blog post details Ashley’s search for her perfect dress, her inspiration for her wedding and her favorite parts of the day. The photos featured are some of JPG’s best shots from the day…shots I am proud to have featured on such an industry-leading Blog. We love shooting real, high fashion through our own fun and quirky lens. This wedding was a slam dunk and this shout-out is really icing on the cake.
Best,
Joe G
