There and Back Again – JPG’s Rockin’ Destination Resort Weddings

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

I am a dedicated Philly resident — born and raised — and I wouldn’t have it any other way. However, that doesn’t deter the sense of wanderlust that creeps up on me. I LOVE to travel! My wife, Rebecca, and I have visited dozens of countries around the world — in fact we love to travel so much that one of the best packages JPG offers is our destination package which includes extra time and coverage for us to get to know the couple’s families and friends. Most of all, it lends itself to building a close relationship with our couples, something JPG is all about.

USA Today recently published a piece listing their top-ten all-inclusive resorts and, surprise, we have visited two out of ten! In 2009 we traveled to Punta Cana in the Domican Republic for Kelli and Nick’s wedding. In addition, we stayed at the Divi Resort in Aruba last April for Amanda and Bryan’s wedding — both events were out of this world!

Destination weddings are becoming increasingly popular with couples and families, and all-inclusive resorts are totally the way to go. Traveling expenses add up, so staying at resorts that are all-inclusive take so much stress off everyone. We have rocked the weddings we’ve traveled for and hope, in the very near future, to have visited all ten of the resorts on this list. Even though I love the Jersey Shore, I have to admit the waters of the Carribbean look just a little nicer at the end of the day.

Vicki & BJ Celebrate with Loved Ones in their Bucks County Wedding

Monday, November 28th, 2011

Vicki and BJ’s wedding was a gathering of close-knit friends and family. Vicki got ready at the house she grew up with the help of her hilarious bunch of bridesmaids. Vicki wanted to surprise her dad in her dress, and when she finally came down the stairs he was completely speechless.

BJ had gotten up early to go golfing with his friends before getting ready for the wedding. Though they didn’t see each other before the ceremony, Vicki asked her father to hand-deliver a special note she’d written, which was obviously very moving for BJ. The ceremony took place at Newtown Presbyterian Church and afterward, the couple sped away in hot-rod cars and a huge cloud of smoke. It was one of the coolest, most dramatic exits I’ve seen!

The reception was at Spring Mill Manor, a beautiful venue in Bucks County.  There was so much laughter and dancing (especially from the bride) and the toasts were especially heartfelt as BJ’s brother mentioned how obvious it is that his brother is madly in love. They both purposely got each other’s faces a little messy while cutting the cake, a sweet ending to a very sweet day.

Warmly,

Amira and John’s 3 day Philly Wedding

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

The wedding of Amira and John was, in a nutshell, an outstanding 3 day party — this was the real deal. It kicked-off on a Thursday night with a henna party held at Amira’s family’s home. This turned out to be an amazing event with tons of food and family. Friday night was the rehearsal dinner at La Famiglia, which boasts some top-notch Italian, followed by an after-party.

The ceremony and reception took place at Trust — for those who don’t know, Trust is an art gallery and the art on the first floor was all created exclusively by Zana Bass, the bride’s sister. Photos of the couple both together and as children were clothes-pinned outside the Betsy Ross House which added a very sweet personal touch. Amira has great taste and wore 3 different dresses throughout the day starting with a beautiful white sari which made her look absolutely angelic. Her Sri Lankan heritage was reflected beautifully in the details of this wedding. They had really unique favors for their guests which were Sri Lankan hand-made brass wind chimes and hand-made salad servers fashioned from coconut shell, painted in the wedding colors.

The colors of this wedding were so so so vibrant; even at the reception the walls were covered with colorful fabric and so many guests were dressed in bright jewel tones. At the end of the night the couple exited in a sea of sparklers. In a cool twist we got some shots post-reception in Rittenhouse Square and Dilworth Plaza and at the end of the night the couple sped away in a Rolls Royce creating the perfect end to their 3 day wedding extravaganza and a bright beginning to a new stage of their lives.

Best,
